In an intense showdown at Polaris 14, former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling emerged victorious, defeating Mike Grundy by decision. The highly-anticipated main event left fans on the edge of their seats, showcasing the incredible skill and determination of both fighters.

Throughout the full 10-minute round, Sterling and Grundy showcased their grappling prowess, engaging in a strategic battle. Surprisingly, the fight saw minimal ground action, with both athletes patiently waiting for an opening to exploit their opponent's mistake. As a result, the majority of the contest revolved around hand-fighting, as Sterling and Grundy vied for superior posture.

Originally scheduled to face Nathaniel Wood, Sterling faced a change in opponent when the British fighter withdrew from the bout to secure a fight against Muhammad Naimov at UFC 294 in October. Stepping up as a replacement, Sterling found himself pitted against Grundy, an esteemed English grappler renowned for his exceptional freestyle wrestling skills.

Grundy, who joined the UFC in 2019, had a mixed tenure in the organization, remaining part of it until 2022. While he secured a victory in his debut, he faced a challenging period with three consecutive losses, ultimately leading to his departure from the UFC.

Despite Grundy delivering an impressive performance against the former UFC champion, his strategy of neutralizing engagements and keeping the fight standing resulted in a slower-paced contest, potentially disappointing some spectators. However, Sterling, determined to bounce back from his shock defeat to Sean O'Malley in August, found his way back into the win column.

Aljamain Sterling's victory over Mike Grundy at Polaris 14 not only solidified his position as a formidable force in the bantamweight division but also showcased his ability to adapt and overcome challenges. With this win, Sterling continues to make his mark in the world of MMA.
