Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling shared his insights on the outcome of the UFC 297 bout between fellow Americans Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis.

Taking place on January 20, Du Plessis secured a split decision victory over Strickland, claiming the middleweight title.

Sterling provided his analysis, stating, “I would definitely give the first and fifth rounds to Strickland. The fourth is Du Plessis. So, the controversial five minutes that became turning points are the second and third."

Delving into the specifics of the fight, Sterling discussed the second and third rounds, highlighting the nuances that could sway opinions. “If there is an argument to be made for a third round, it would be Du Plessis. I think he was more active. In the second round, Sean landed cleaner. Drikus tried to be active, he hit more often, but Strickland was more accurate and his shots did more damage,” Sterling commented on his YouTube channel.
